Why it matters
Why hotel advertising in Cyprus starts with the commission you pay
A guest from Manchester, Tel Aviv, Warsaw or Athens plans a Cyprus holiday over weeks. Inspiration on Instagram and TikTok, comparison on Google and the booking sites, then a final search for the hotel by name. Hotel marketing in Cyprus works when you appear at each of those steps and steer the last one to your own website.
Most properties we speak to either spend nothing on ads and pay commission on almost every booking, or run a small brand campaign and call it direct marketing. Meanwhile the big booking platforms bid on the hotel's own name, so a guest who typed it into Google books through them anyway and the hotel pays for its own customer.
We protect the brand on Search, build campaigns by feeder market and season, use Meta and TikTok at the inspiration stage, and connect the booking engine to the ad platforms. The same method works for villa rental companies, tour operators and activity providers who want bookings that do not carry a platform fee.

What we run
Campaign types we run for hotels, villas and tour operators
From the first Instagram scroll to the confirmation email, each stage gets a campaign with a clear job.
- 01
Brand protection Search
Exact match on your hotel or villa name in every feeder market language, with sitelinks to rooms, offers and direct-booking benefits. Cheap clicks that would otherwise go to a platform charging you commission.
- 02
Destination and property Search by feeder market
Terms like "family hotel Paphos", "Larnaca beach hotel" and "villa with pool Cyprus", targeted country by country with bids set by that market's booking value and season.
- 03
Meta and Instagram for the inspiration stage
Video and carousel campaigns showing the pool, the view and the breakfast to travellers in feeder markets during their planning window, building an audience we retarget as the trip gets closer.
- 04
TikTok for experiences and younger travellers
Short native video for boat trips, adventure tours, beach clubs and design-led hotels, where the format matches how that audience discovers holidays.
- 05
In-destination campaigns for tours and activities
Ads targeted to people already in Cyprus, in their language, for tours, water sports, day trips and restaurants. Short decision window, high intent, easy to measure.
- 06
Retargeting and booking recovery
Visitors who checked rates but did not book see the room they looked at, a direct-booking perk and a deadline. Usually the most efficient campaign in a hotel account.
Included
What hotel and tourism clients get from us
The work behind a direct-booking share that rises season after season.
Brand protection first
Your name, your booking engine, your margin. We make sure the guest who searches for you lands with you, in every language your guests use.
Feeder market planning
Budgets split by country according to booking value, seasonality and flight connections, and moved as markets warm up and cool down.
Booking window budgeting
Summer is sold in winter and spring. We spend when guests are deciding, then shift to last-minute and in-destination offers once the season starts.
Booking engine tracking
Confirmation pages, revenue values and room nights captured through GA4, Google Tag Manager and the Conversions API, whichever engine you use.
Creative for the inspiration stage
Short video and photo sets shaped around what sells a stay: the view, the pool, the food, the beach. We brief your team or your photographer.
Judged on room nights and revenue
Reports show bookings, revenue, cost per booking and direct-booking share by market and campaign. One page, every week.
How we work
How we grow direct bookings for Cyprus properties
- 01
Distribution audit
Where your bookings come from today, what commission you pay, which markets and months carry the year, and what your current ads do, if anything.
- 02
Market and season plan
Feeder markets ranked by value, a month-by-month budget curve, and a channel plan per market: Search for capture, Meta and TikTok for inspiration.
- 03
Tracking through the booking engine
Booking confirmations with revenue and dates tracked into GA4, Google Ads and Meta, verified against your PMS or engine reports before launch.
- 04
Build and launch
Brand protection first, then destination Search, then inspiration campaigns, each launched with modest budgets and a clear measure.
- 05
Optimise weekly
Budget shifts between markets, new offers as occupancy changes, creative refreshes and negative keywords, logged every week.
- 06
Expand
New markets, new seasons, new products such as weddings, events or long stays, added once the core campaigns are paying.
Direct bookings versus OTA dependence
Booking platforms are useful. They bring guests you would never reach and they are worth their commission on those. The problem is paying the same commission on guests who already knew your name, or who found you through your own Instagram. Paid ads exist to move that second group to your website, where the booking is yours and the guest data is yours.
That needs a reason to book direct: a small discount, a free upgrade, flexible cancellation, breakfast included. It also needs a booking engine that does not lose people halfway. We review both before spending, because ads that send guests to a worse deal than the platform offers will not convert.
Feeder markets and seasonality for hotel marketing in Cyprus
Cyprus fills from a handful of markets, and the mix shifts through the year. In our experience the UK and Israel tend to book across most of the season, central European demand concentrates in the summer months, Greek and local demand fills weekends and holidays, and winter brings longer stays and older travellers to Paphos in particular. Each market plans and books on its own timetable.
We build the budget around the booking window rather than the stay. Summer campaigns start in January and February for markets that plan early, shift to last-minute offers from late spring, and hand over to in-destination campaigns once guests are on the island. Larnaca, Limassol and Paphos each have their own page on this site with local detail.
Common mistakes we see in hotel and tourism ad accounts
Leaving the brand name undefended is the most expensive. A hotel spending nothing on Search while platforms bid on its name is handing over commission on its most loyal guests. The next is targeting the whole world with one English ad in July, when the guests for July booked months ago.
Then there is tracking that stops at the click. Without booking engine conversions, every campaign is judged on traffic, and traffic is easy to buy. We also see Instagram content with no campaign behind it, no retargeting of rate-checkers, and offers on the ads that are worse than the ones on the platforms. Each is a straightforward fix.
Measuring hotel advertising: tracking through the booking engine
The measure is bookings, revenue and the share of bookings that arrive direct. Booking engines vary in how easy they make this, so we work through the confirmation page, the engine's own tracking options or the Conversions API to capture each booking with its value, dates and lead time.
That data goes back into Google and Meta so bidding can favour the markets and audiences producing revenue rather than clicks. We then report cost per booking and revenue by market, campaign and month, alongside the direct share from your PMS. When the direct share rises and commission falls, the ads have done their job.
FAQ
Hotels & Tourism: questions we hear most
If your question is not here, ask. We keep replies short.
Most properties start between €1,500 and €3,000 per month on Google and €800 to €2,000 on Meta during the booking season, with less in the off season. A single villa or small guesthouse can start lower. The right figure depends on room count, rates and how much commission you are trying to replace.
Yes, when brand searches are protected and there is a real reason to book direct. Guests who already know your name are the easiest to win back, and the saved commission usually pays for the campaign on its own.
Yes. Villa rental companies and owners with their own booking system follow the same method: brand protection, feeder market campaigns, inspiration content and retargeting. Single-villa owners usually start with Meta and a small Search campaign.
Tours and activities sell to people already on the island, so we target visitors in Cyprus by language and location, alongside pre-arrival campaigns in feeder markets. TikTok and Instagram work well here because the product is visual and the decision is quick.
Any engine that lets us reach the confirmation page or exposes booking data. Most mainstream hotel booking engines, channel managers and villa platforms qualify. We test the tracking against your own booking reports before launch.
January for markets that plan early. Others tend to book closer to travel. We build the calendar per market so budget is live when each one is deciding, and pull it back once they have booked.
Yes. Paphos leans on UK visitors, expats and longer winter stays, Larnaca benefits from the airport and short breaks along Finikoudes and Mackenzie, and Limassol mixes business travel, marina tourism and a large Russian-speaking community. Targeting and creative change accordingly.
