Why it matters

Why a healthy ROAS can still lose an online store money

Cyprus shoppers compare before they buy. They search a product, scan the Shopping carousel, open two or three stores, check the delivery cost, then get followed around Instagram for a week before ordering. An ecommerce marketing agency in Cyprus has to work across that whole path and know which step actually closed the sale.

The accounts we audit share the same faults. A product feed pulled straight from Shopify or WooCommerce with default titles. One Performance Max campaign holding every product. Brand searches inflating ROAS. A target ROAS chosen with no reference to gross margin, shipping cost or return rate. The dashboard looks fine and the bank balance does not.

We start with the feed and the margin data, split campaigns by product role and profitability, and run Meta catalogue ads next to Google Shopping so the two channels reinforce each other. Across our clients the average return is 4.2× ROAS, but the number we manage to is profit on ad spend.

What we run

Campaign types we run for online stores

The mix depends on your catalogue size, margins and where your buyers are. Here is what is usually in it.

  1. 01

    Google Shopping

Standard Shopping campaigns with product groups split by margin and bestseller status, custom labels built from your margin data, and negative keyword lists so you stop paying for "free", "cheap" and competitor queries.

  2. 02

    Performance Max

Asset groups per category with real creative, brand traffic excluded through brand exclusions, and feed-only asset groups where creative is thin. Search themes are set so PMax finds new demand rather than eating your Search campaigns.

  3. 03

    Meta Advantage+ catalogue ads

Dynamic product ads for cart abandoners and recent browsers, plus broad prospecting with product sets built by category and price point. The catalogue does the creative work at scale while we control the sets and the budgets.

  4. 04

    Instagram and TikTok prospecting

Short video and creator-style content for new customer acquisition, pointed at products that convert first-time buyers. Instagram for considered purchases, TikTok for impulse buys and younger shoppers.

  5. 05

    Search campaigns for high-value products

Exact and phrase match on product and category terms, in English and Greek, for ranges where a single order justifies its own ad group and landing page.

  6. 06

    Retention and repeat purchase

Customer list uploads, post-purchase sequences and seasonal reactivation, so your budget is not only ever chasing strangers. Returning customers usually carry the best margin in the account.

Included

What ecommerce clients get from us

The work that makes Shopping, PMax and catalogue ads pay.

Feed first

Titles rewritten for how people search, product types and identifiers completed, images checked, stock and price synced. A clean feed lifts every campaign downstream.

Profit on ad spend, not just ROAS

We ask for margin by product or category and set targets against it. A 3× ROAS on a thin-margin line can lose money after shipping and returns, while 2× on a high-margin line is a good day.

Tracking that survives iOS and consent

GA4, Google Tag Manager, Meta Conversions API and Google enhanced conversions, with consent mode configured for EU rules and purchase values deduplicated across platforms.

Cyprus first, then Greece and the EU

Once Cyprus campaigns are profitable we replicate the structure for Greece and other EU markets, with shipping, currency and language handled in the feed and the landing pages.

Retail calendar planning

Black Friday, Christmas, January sales, Easter, summer and back to school are budgeted and built weeks in advance rather than switched on the morning they start.

Reports on revenue and margin

Spend, revenue, ROAS, profit on ad spend where you share margin data, new versus returning customers, and what changed this week. One page.

How we work

How we take an online store from spend to profit

  1. 01

    Audit

Feed quality, campaign structure, brand contamination, tracking accuracy and how your current targets relate to margin. You get a written list of what is leaking.

  2. 02

    Margin mapping

We group products by gross margin, average order value and role in the catalogue: bestseller, traffic driver, long tail, clearance. Targets are set per group.

  3. 03

    Feed and tracking build

Merchant Center and Commerce Manager feeds rebuilt or repaired, supplemental feeds for custom labels, and server-side purchase tracking verified against your store's own order count.

  4. 04

    Launch

Shopping, PMax and catalogue campaigns go live with conservative targets. Search terms, placements and product-level spend are reviewed daily for the first two weeks.

  5. 05

    Optimise weekly

Product group bids, negatives, creative refreshes, budget moves between margin bands and seasonal offers, all logged in a change log you can read.

  6. 06

    Expand

New product lines, new campaign types and new markets, added one at a time so you can see what each one contributes.

What an ecommerce marketing agency in Cyprus should fix first: the feed

Every Shopping, PMax and catalogue ad is generated from your product feed. If the title says "Blue T-Shirt 2024" and the shopper searched "men's organic cotton t-shirt", you either do not appear or you appear for the wrong searches. We rewrite titles around brand, product type, key attributes and size, complete the identifiers Google uses to match products, and fix the images that get products disapproved.

Then we add what the platforms cannot see: margin bands, seasonal labels, stock depth and bestseller flags as custom labels. That is what lets us bid differently on a high-margin bestseller and a clearance item, instead of treating the whole catalogue as one line.

Common mistakes we see in ecommerce ad accounts

One Performance Max campaign for the entire catalogue is the most common. PMax will happily spend the whole budget on your bestsellers and your brand name, then report a flattering ROAS that includes sales you would have made anyway. We exclude brand, split by product role and give the long tail its own budget.

Other regulars: no margin data in the account, so a 4× target is applied to products that need 6× to break even. Meta catalogue ads switched on with a broken pixel, so retargeting fires at people who already bought. No Greek-language campaigns for a store whose customers search in Greek. And seasonal campaigns launched on Black Friday morning with no learning period.

Measuring ecommerce ads: ROAS, POAS and new customers

ROAS is the starting point. Revenue attributed to ads divided by spend, taken from the platforms and checked against GA4 and your store's order data, because the three rarely agree and the gap tells you something. We report platform ROAS alongside a blended figure so you are never fooled by attribution overlap between Google and Meta.

Profit on ad spend (POAS) goes one step further. With margin by product or category, we can show what each campaign contributed after cost of goods, and where possible after shipping and returns. Alongside that we track new versus returning customer share, because a campaign that only resells to existing customers is not growing the business.

Selling to Greece and the EU, and planning the retail calendar

Cyprus is a small market, and many stores we work with reach the point where growth means Greece or the wider EU. The mechanics are straightforward: shipping rates and delivery times per country in the feed, prices in the right currency, Greek-language product data, and separate campaigns per market so the Cyprus account is not diluted while the new one learns.

Seasonality drives the budget plan. Black Friday and Christmas are the obvious peaks, then January sales, Easter, summer and back to school for the categories that care. We front-load campaign builds and creative so the learning phase is done before the peak, and pull budget back in the flat weeks rather than spending for the sake of it.

FAQ

E-commerce & Retail: questions we hear most

If your question is not here, ask. We keep replies short.

Most stores we take on start between €1,500 and €3,000 per month on Google and €800 to €2,000 on Meta, paid to the platforms from your own accounts. The right number depends on margin and catalogue size. We will say plainly if your margins cannot support paid acquisition yet.
